Giorgio Armani selects young designer to show at Milan Fashion Week

Julian Zigerli is Milan’s Next Big Thing

Julian Zigerli

It’s no secret that Œ Magazine full fledgedly, whole-heartedly, if not religiously, loves Julian Zigerli. This year, Christmas is arriving a bit earlier for the young Swiss designer, who was selected by the Giorgio Armani team as this season’s young promising talent. For the second consecutive season, the Italian fashion house has handpicked a creative talent to shin the spotlight on during Milan Fashion Week in January, providing a global platform for the designer at Armani’s famous Teatro space.

Last season, Mr. Armani opened his catwalk to two emerging Italian designers, inaugurating what many believed to be the fashion house’s ongoing initiative to support young creative talents from Italy. It is a welcoming surprise that the designer has broadened the scope of his initiative to include global talents this time around. If last season’s shows are any indication of press and industry interest, Julian Zigerli will be heading into the biggest fashion season of his budding career.

Having graduated from Berlin University of the Arts in 2011, Zigerli immediately founded his eponymous label creating playful sportswear using innovative Swiss textiles. Along the way, the young designer picked up the Swiss Design Award and followed up with a knockout collection in collaboration with renowned artist Katharina Grosse earlier this year. Julian Zigerli’s runway A/W 14/15 show will take place January 11, 2013.
