Lala Berlin

With the catch phrase “Werdet wild und tut was Schönes” designer Leyla Piedayesh and her label lala BERLIN delivered the label’s  AW 14/15 collection at Palazzo Italia. Curiosities were raised with the beautiful saying “Be wild and do something beautiful.”

Just as the words that described the collection’s mood would indicate, the looks were a clash between beautiful minimalism and the rough Berlin inspired punk scene. The collection reinvents a nearly forgotten Berlin subculture, mixing outspoken toughness with classic feminine sophistication. Tops and trousers, ornamented with the saying conveyed a punk rock attitude while soft and neutral colors toned down the upcoming riot. The collection demonstrated a restrained wildness and its beauty is derived from these rough changes. Lala Berlin expressed this tension in an elegant way: ankle long coats in neutrals, transparent and lace striped dresses, and heavy knit with well-chosen metallic details. Lala employs red with each collection as a statement color. In her AW 14/14 collection, the color references the punk and rock scene and is balanced by subtle printwork that hold the Lala signature.
