Ubi Sunt

Ubi Sunt from Sweden was the third men’s wear label to show their collection on the first day at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin’s Studio. Unlike Sissi Goetze and Sopopular who used the Studio for a static presentation, the label had three consecutive mini-shows. Approximately 100 people were allowed each time, watching 10 models arrange themselves on white boxes and changing spots one by one.

Subtle colors, ranging from structured white, various grays, black and a splash of blue in the shape of two pullovers set a calm tone.Simple silhouettes based on classic menswear were modified in detail. Narrow collars on jackets, a bomber jacket was modernized in a silvery shade and without a collar, a coat with several layers was transformed into a cape.

A favorite look was a rather boxy jacket made from a coarsely woven, gently shiny fabric, a matte pair of trousers and a minimalistic black shirt. The sleeves and pant legs were slightly shortened which might not be perfect for the coldest winter, but made the look perfectly well balanced.

A very modern and unpretentious take on menswear that blends in well with the Berlin inherent tendency towards a minimalistic style. For future collections I would like to see a few accessories such as bags or gloves to complete the picture.
