Having worked alongside numerous publications such as WOW Magazine, Huf Magazine, and Love Paper, German photographer Filine Fink, based between Berlin and Hamburg, has grabbed our attention in recent weeks with her beautiful mix of fashion, beauty and portrait photography.
Her photography is distinctly hybrid, offering a mix of stark stylised fashion imagery with eclectic, intimate portraiture. Her editorial “I am,” places models in a cold clinical environment surrounded by metal and stark lighting, to create a surreal dehumanized effect. The combination between the stark white of the surroundings with the stark white of the models hair and clothes blends her backgrounds and models perfectly, to explore her theme of dehumanization. However, in her portraiture, her use of black and white imagery in natural environments, offers something distinctly eclectic and untainted, creating a real intimacy with her models.
Her latest work involved photographing the editorial “My Paper Sunglasses” for WOW Magazine Berlin; a conceptual editorial exploring Berlin based fashion. The shoot looks at fashion trends for the up-coming A/W season, as well as exploring Berlin’s take on the “My Paper Sunglasses” art project. Founded by creative director Otavio Santiago, he invited artists from his native Brazil and now his current home Berlin, to explore their artistic visions and identities on cutout paper sunglasses, displaying the sheer complexity and variety of our artistic visions. The editorial was then presented at SomoS Art gallery in Berlin, with the exhibition running until the 21st of August.
